Aspects Of Design

Interior Design

Masterpiece

Young Designers often wonder during the start of their career, also, some accomplished designers run into this particular speed bump in their life, I personally have run into them a lot, well what is it?

It’s the one question that makes us bite our fingers, “how do I get better at my design?”

Well I found the answer in these seven very to the mark words, vis a vis Space, Perspective, movement, variety, balance, harmony, unity.

What’s space? Space is the area where you get to do your magic, where you are going to create your masterpiece. Analyze the space you have got, study its surroundings, the natural sources of light, the ventilation, the flow, get it all registered in your head and then to the next point.

Perspective, bring in your perspective bring in all the ideas cooking up in your brain, get that imagination factory running, imagine the output. But wait! Don’t forget about the client, after all, he is the one for whom you are designing, take into consideration his ideas, well now it’s time to move to the next point.

This bugs me the most, this throws most of my ideas straight in the trash. Its “movement.” Well you have to make sure that there is proper area and paths for movements and everything is accessible (make note no part of your design should go to waste always make sure the efficiency of your product, well in this case your design).

This next point is something that I very much love about designing, its “variety.” Bringing in variety and variations actually brings your design to life. This is the most interesting part, you can separate spaces like the dining area from the living room, the wardrobe area from the rest of the bedroom just by bringing variation/contrast.

The 5th point goes hand in hand with the 6th one. Most people forget this and don’t consider this as a very essential point to be paid attention to, but in my opinion, this is the most crucial and important part of your design. When you bring in variation and contrast it becomes very important that everything you properly balance the physical and psychological aspects.

It doesn’t matter how many variations you bring into your design, they are all a waste of ideas if you cannot make them look seamless. I know what you are thinking, how can one put variations and then expect it to look seamless, well that’s where the trick is. You need to find harmony between every variation. Think of something that stitches them together, search for the bond.

When u accomplish that when you achieve balance and harmony in your design that’s when you get to my seventh and the final point that seals the deal “unity.” You manage to create a perfect design when you have successfully emphasized each different space and activity with their own unique and special variation and yet made them all look like one, made them look united. That is what I call a masterpiece.
